WHY AMERICA IS LOSING ITS FREEDOM

Matthew 19:16-17 A young man said to Jesus, “What good thing must I do that I may have eternal life?” Jesus answered, “If thou wilt enter into life, KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS” In v. 18 Jesus then names some of the Ten Commandments. 

LIKE THE DAYS OF JEREMIAH, MANY OF AMERICA’S PROPHETS and MINISTERS HAVE BEEN CORRUPTED.

FREEDOM AND PROSPERITY ARE RAPIDLY ERODING IN AMERICA. Tea Parties are springing up everywhere in response to this impending threat.  Many are fighting politically to save our freedom and prosperity. 
THE BIBLE AND HISTORY GIVE MANY EXAMPLES OF HOW GREAT NATIONS LOST THEIR FREEDOM AND PROSPERITY.
One biblical example is found in the Book of Jeremiah, which tells of Jeremiah’s warnings to the Israelites just prior to them going into The Babylonian Captivity.
THE BOOK OF JEREMIAH GRAPHICALLY TELLS WHY AND HOW THE ISRAELITES LOST THEIR FREEDOM AND PROSPERITY.
God spoke through Jeremiah the Word of the Lord telling the Israelites, that if they would obey God, keep His Commandments and would not spiritually intermingle with the heathen, that God would protect and prosper them.

Here is what the Lord said:
Deut 28:11 “And the Lord shall make thee PLENTEOUS in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground...”
Deut 28:7 “The Lord shall cause THINE ENEMIES that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.”
Deut. 28:1-16 LISTS ALL THE BLESSINGS God said He would bring on them IF they kept His Commandments.The Israelites initially obeyed God and enjoyed freedom and great prosperity.
WHAT COMMANDMENTS WAS GOD TALKING ABOUT?
The Ten Commandments:Ex 20:3-16 “Thou shalt not have any other gods before Him; not steal; not kill (murder); not commit adultery; not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; not covet your neighbor’s wife or his possession; honor your mother and father, etc.Also, there were other things that God forbid, including the practice of witchcraft and drunkenness.  
JEREMIAH WARNED THE PEOPLE THAT IF THEY DIDN’T KEEP GOD’S COMMANDMENTS THEY WOULD LOSE THEIR FREEDOM AND PROSPERITY AND BECOME SLAVES IN BABYLON.
Jeremiah prophesied, Jer 20:5 “Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and CARRY THEM TO BABYLON.”
Despite the warning, after God prospered and protected the Israelites, they went cold towards Him; became proud;worshipped the work of their hands; intermarried with the pagans; and forgot God and His Commandments.They assimilated with the pagans, adapting their dress, music, customs, culture and mixed their religion with their own. It came to the point that there was little difference between the Israelites and the pagans.
Ps 106:35They…”MINGLED AMONG THE HEATHEN LEARNED THEIR WORKS”
THE ISRAELITES THEN CORRUPTED THE HOUSE OF THE LORD
Before they went into slavery in Babylon, first the Israelites became spiritually corrupted by false prophets and went cold towards God. 
JER. 5:31 Jeremiah said,“THEIR PROPHETS PROPHESIED FALSELY and their priests bore rule by their means, andMY PEOPLE LOVED TO HAVE IS SO.”
Israel’s prophets prophesied blessings to the people who were breaking God’s commandments.(Ezek 13:1-10).They never warned the people of impending disaster.All the prophets cared about was being popular with the people which would make them rich.
Nu. 19:20 says they “…defiled the sanctuary.” 
Joshua 22:19 THEY BUILT AN ALTAR TO BAAL BESIDE THE ALTAR OF THE LORD.
This was in defiance of God’s commandment, ‘Thou shalt have no other gods before me’. 
The people became mesmerized with false religion and the pleasures of sin.It was like as a nation,the people fell under some kind of spell.
JEREMIAH STOOD UP TO THE FALSE PROPHETS
Jeremiah prophesied that IF THEY DIDN’T CHANGE and hearken to the Word of the Lord,THEY WOULD GO INTO CAPTIVITY and lose everything.But THE ISRAELITES DIDN’T BELIEVE HIM.
Jer. 32:30-40 God said through Jeremiah, “I am against the prophets that STEAL MY WORDS…and cause my people to err by THEIR LIES.For ye have PERVERTED the words of the living God.I will utterly forget you!”
Jer 20:5 “And thou, Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house SHALL GO INTO CAPTIVITY: and thou shalt come to Babylon , and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buried there, thou, and all thy friends, to whom THOU HAST PROPHESIED LIES.”
LIKE JEREMIAH HAD PROPHESIED, the day came that THE ASSYRIAN, KING NEBUCHADNEZZAR, TOOK THE ISRAELITES to BABYLON INTO CAPTIVITY. (Babylon is modern day Iraq).They lost their homes; their money; their savings; and all their possessions.They became slaves.They exchanged their freedom for the pleasures of sin; for false prophets;a guaranteed income; and for economic equality, which translated into everybody got slave wages.  
NOW they had NO FREEDOM OF THOUGHT; NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH; NO FREEDOM OF RELIGION; no freedom to do choose the kind of business they wanted to do; and no freedom to prosper. This SLAVE SOCIETY DEMANDED UNIFORMITY and CONFORMITY to the pagan king and his mores.They were now living under a tyrannical dictatorship that was totally against Jehovah God and His laws. 
THE ISRAELITES CAME UNDER THE CURSE for not keeping God’s commandments, just like God said would happen.Deut. 28:15-68 LISTS THE CURSES.
One of the curses was that they would become slaves. Deut. 28:47-48.
IN BABYLON, THE ISRAELITE YOUTH DIDN’T KNOW THE GOD OF THEIR PARENTS.
Being born in Babylon, that’s all they knew.They didn’t know firsthand the miracles of God.Jehovah was just the God of their parents, grandparents and ancestors.This was their parents’ religion, not theirs. They didn’t know God personally.They didn’t believe God’s Word. In their minds they had evolved to a ‘higher’ level of spiritual enlightenment and political correctness.They had been educated by the atheistic educational institutions of Babylon.They dressed liked them; talked like them; were caught up with the Babylonians entertainment and became immoral just like them. The Babylonian’s culture was now their culture.None of them regarded God’s Commandments. 
Now the Israelites’ had no control over their own lives or that of their children.They had all been inoculated against God and His Word.
THE ISRAELITES OF JEREMIAH’S DAY UNCANNILY PARALLELS AMERICA TODAY
America was founded on God, the Bible, The Ten Commandments and Jesus Christ.AMERICA’S LAWS WERE BASED ON THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.   America began as a Christian nation.  It is God, Jesus Christ, the Bible and its teachings that brought prosperity and blessings on America and kept it from its enemies. 
LIKE THE DAYS OF JEREMIAH, MANY OF AMERICA’S PROPHETS and MINISTERS HAVE BEEN CORRUPTED.
Christians today have also MINGLED AMONG THE HEATHEN and LEARNED THEIR WORKS’. A big percentage of churches spiritually have BUILT AN ALTAR TO BAAL BESIDE THE ALTAR OF THE LORD. Like Jeremiah’s time, these prophets are just prophesying blessings on people, even to those who are breaking God’s Commandments. The doctrine of Eternal Security preaches the message that after one accepts Christ, he will go to heaven no matter how much he sins.Many preachers are openly preaching that The Ten Commandments have been done away with. Few preachers ever warn people about the consequences of their sins.Christianity has become liberalized.The Bible has been set aside and psychology has taken its place.The spirit of the age has taken over much of Christianity.(See the articles:‘Has God Revoked His Moral Law? With so many denominations, there is much doctrinal confusion in Christianity.  Today’s Christianity has had virtually no moral impact on society.  America has changed because Christianity has changed. The Church and most Christians are like in a drunken stupor, having church as usual, not warning people of the consequences of their sins.
2 Tim 4:3 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine ; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;” 
John 14:15Jesus said,“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
Luke 21:33 “Heaven an earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”
AS A NATION, AMERICA HAS BECOME PAGAN
Like the Israelites, our children are educated by an atheistic Babylonian type system that is against God, Jesus Christ, the Bible and God’s Commandments.Because of this and our entertainment industry, the values and morals of most children even from Christian families are little different than those of non-Christians.Few have control of their children. Most children today do not know the God of their parents.They have seen a lot of false prophets which has turned them off.How much difference is there really between America of today and Babylon of old?
A twelve year old boy in the sixth grade told me that in the public school he attends, he is being taught that in the dating system which is based on A.D. is now A.C.E., After Common Era; and B.C. now is B.C.E., Before Common Era.A.D. stands for ‘After Christ’ and B.C. stands for ‘Before Christ’.  Systematically, our pagan culture is trying to expunge Jesus Christ from the memories of our children and society.In this politically correct new America, in the name of diversity, all gods now have been put on an equal plane.
FREEDOM OF RELIGION AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH ARE UNDER GRAVE THREAT.   
This is supposed to be a tolerant society, but the fact is that it is totally intolerant towards Jesus Christ, the Bible, The Ten Commandments and Christianity.
AMERICA HAS BECOME MORALLY CORRUPT LIKE THE ISRAELITES OF JEREMIAH'S DAY
THE HIPPIE MOVEMENT of the 60’s and 70’s was fueled by the Rock stars, folk singers and Woodstock which helped spawn the sexual revolution, free love; the rejection of The Ten Commandments; the promotion of Eastern religions; and blasphemy against God.It seems the most popular entertainers today are the most morally decadent.Their lyrics promoted LSD and spawned the drug culture.DRUG ADDICTION is uncontrollable and has been destroying our youth for decades. 
PONOGRAPHY is easily available on pay TV, magazines and the internet.So many today are not getting married, just living together.Casual sex is common on dates, as if it were nothing.Sexual perversion is common. As a society, we look to LAS VEGAS, SIN CITY, AND CASINOS for our entertainment.Despite how many families and lives liquor has destroyed, DRINKING has become a common way of life for most of our citizens.Alcohol is not only sold in bars and in liquor stores, but is readily available at convenience stores and even grocery stores. DIVORCE has been tearing our families to pieces and ruining so many lives. ADULTERY, FORNICATION, PERVERSION, THIEVERY, MURDER, WITCHCRAFT AND SORCERY are the main themes for TV programs, movies and novels.The popular novels and movies about‘Harry Potter’, promote sorcery and witchcraft.Cartoons and theme parks focus on witchcraft.All this is being done despite God’s warning that witchcraft and sorcery are sins.(See the article:‘We Have Been Bewitched’ www.lorendavis.com)
As a nation, America is not only opposing the laws of God, but is now promoting these godless values to the world.  We have lost the fear of God.Morally we have become like Sodom and Gomorrah. 
IS AMERICA UNDER A CURSE?
CORRUPTION AND CRIME fill the land from the bottom to the top.DRUG WARS are terrorizing our borders.Murderous GANGS fill our cities.RACIAL TENSION is reviving, dividing and weakening us. 
Our MENTAL WARDS are packed.We can’t build PRISONS fast enough.Many are committing SUICIDES.DISEASE is getting worse than ever despite all of our medical science.   
The disastrous VIET NAM WAR paralleled the Hippie Movement;9-11 saw 3000 of our citizens killed unexpectedly; THE IRAQI WAR AND AFGHANISTAN WARS;ISLAMIC JIHAD has declared war on all infidels, Christians and Jews;FOREIGNERS who don’t believein Christ are BUYING UP AMERICA; ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS are threatening our security and economic viability; and our military is RECRUITING FOREIGNERS TO BE IN OUR ARMY.  
We are having UNPRECEDENTED BANK BAILOUTS; GOVERNMENT TAKE OVERS OF MAJOR AUTO INDUSTRIES; our NATIONAL DEBT is in the multiple trillions; we are deeply in DEBT TO CHINA, an atheistic country; MILLIONS ARE JOBLESS and have lost their homes; in L.A., as of July 2010, over 1 million homeless are living on thestreets;TAXES ARE RISING; AMERICA’S ECONOMY is teetering on collapsing; CHINA’S INFLUENCE is spreading rapidly throughout the world;N. KOREA AND IRAN, rogue states, are developing nuclear weapons.Iran has declared it is going to destroy Israel; The U.N. is now demanding that Israel get rid of its nuclear weapons. 
HURRICANES KATRINA AND RITA nearly destroyed New Orleans.HURRICANE IKE almost finished off Galveston; TORNADOES are devastating a lot of the country; theNASHVILLE FLOOD nearly ruined the city.It was unbelievable! ARKANSAS has been hit by killer floods. 
THE GULF OIL SPILLlooks apocalyptic.There have been estimates of 2.5 million of gallons a day spewing into the Gulf.This could go on for months.It reminds one of what the book of Revelation prophesies aboutthe Great Tribulation. 
Rev 8:8-9 “…and the third part of the sea became blood…And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, , died;”
And yet, America is not turning towards God nor changing its immoral lifestyle. How could a country where 80% are professing Christians sink to such depravity?The country seems to have gone crazy, yet the party is still going on.(See the article:‘Why is America in Trouble?’ www.lorendavis.com).
NOW, AMERICA HAS TURNED AGAINST ISRAEL.
Gen 12:2-3 God said regarding Israel “…And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee:”
Zech 12:3 ‘And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.”
IS THE WHOLE WORLD COME UNDER THE CURSE?
THE TSUNAMI that unexpectedly hit Asia killed an estimated 300,000; The EARTHQUAKE INHAITI killed over 200,000.CHILE was devastated by an earthquake and tsunami.Many other nations have been torn apart by them.ICELAND HAD A MASSIVE VOLCANO that shut down air travel from the U.S. to Europe and over much of Europe itself.Volcanoes have ripped GUATEMALA AND ECUADOR.CYCLONES are devastating INDIA.PLAGUE OF FROGS HAVE FILLED THE ROADS IN GREECE, even shutting them down, reminiscent of the plagues in Egypt.GREECE’S ECONOMY has failed. THE EURO has taken a plunge and threatened to collapse.The CHAOS IN KENYA killed 20,000 with another 10,000 missing. Over 5 million have been slaughtered by fighting and famine in Congo in the last five years.
Luke 21:26 “Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.”
THE BIBLE AND HISTORY TEACH US THAT ALL NATIONS WHO HAVE REJECTED CHRIST, THE BIBLE AND GOD’S COMMANDMENTS HAVE LOST THEIR FREEDOM AND PROSPERITY.
In NOAH’S DAY, the people were destroyed by the flood because of their great wickedness;SODOM AND GOMORRAH were destroyed because of its great gross immorality.
POMPEII was known to be morally decadent, pleasure seeking city.It was destroyedsuddenly by a volcano.THE ANCIENT EGYPTIANS, GREEKS, AND THE ROMAN EMPIRE werepowerful militarily and very rich, but they worshipped other gods andwere morally corrupt.They all fell because of their spiritual and moral decadence.   
GERMANY had been the center of great revivals including ‘The Reformation’ under Martin Luther.Later, its churches were taken over by liberal theologians; sound Bible doctrine was rejected and Germany spiritually cooled off.80% of Germany’s population was Lutheran and the balance mainly Catholics.How could it be possible that a tyrant like Adolf Hitler could take over when most of Germany’s citizens were many professing Christians? Hitler was able to rise because Germany’s pride was hurt because it lost World War I, and that it was struggling economically. Incredibly, many Germans turned to Hitler to be their savior instead of Jesus Christ.Those who opposed him were put in concentration camps or killed. 
In the past Christianity came to RUSSIA, CHINA AND CUBA, but their Christianity became corrupted. Christ was rejected as savior and the Bible was rejected as God’s Word. Their leaders, all atheists, became their gods and providers.Russia turned to Stalin as its savior;China turned to Mao and Cuba to Castro.  
ALL THESE NATIONS HAD SIMILAR THINGS IN COMMON: they taught evolution; were sexually perverse and immoral; had banned God, Christ and the Bible from their nations; hadrejected the Bible’s teachings about economics; were involved in witchcraft and the occult; and were heavily involved indrinking and drunkenness.All of their political saviors became their tyrants and slave masters.This brought about loss of freedom, economic ruin and the deaths of tens of millions.
Prov 14:12 “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Is it just coincidence all this nations lost freedom and prosperity or was it because they all did the same thing?If we don’t discover the why and how these things happened and learn from history, the same thing will happen to us.
Prov 26:2 “…the curse causeless shall not come.”
The same God who set up the laws of natures set up the laws of ‘Blessings and the Curses’. It seems that even nature itself is revolting against mankind. 
Rom 8:22 “…the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.”
THERE CAME A POINT IN BABYLON, WHEN THE ISRAELITES WERE NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO BE SECRET BELIEVERS.Dan. 3.
King Nebuchadnezzar made a new law in Babylon that everyone had to worship his state god, the golden image. Freedom of religion was dead. He gathered everyone, including his Israelite slaves, and commanded everyone to bow publicly to the golden image.Anyone who refused would be executed by being burned alive.  
But there were three Jews, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who refused to bow.They believed that God was able to deliver them, and He did.As a result of their stand, the king changed the law, and commanded that no one could speak against their God.Those three men, brought freedom of religion to the Israelites again.
TEA PARTIES AND CONSERVATIVE TALK SHOWS ALONE WILL NOT SAVE AMERICA. 
The threats to our freedom and prosperity are just a manifestation of the spiritual poverty of our people.MANY CONSERVATIVES get drunk and live immoral lives as much as most Liberals.The main problem with America is immorality and hypocrisy.As a nation we have gotten so caught up in making money and pleasure that we have forgotten God, or put Him on the back burner. 
Ps 9:17 “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”That is a law!
AMERICA AND THE WORLD ARE FOLLOWING THE SAME PATHS THAT OTHER POWERFUL AND WEALTHY NATIONS FOLLOWED THAT LOST THEIR FREEDOM AND PROSPERITY.JUST LIKE THEM, MOST OF OUR PROPHETS ARE FALSE; WE HAVE REJECTED GOD, JESUS CHRIST, THE BIBLE, AND GOD’S COMMANDMENTS.  
Gal 6:7 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth , that shall he also reap.”
2 Tim 3:7 “Ever learning , and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
YOU CAN’T FIGHT HISTORY ORGOD AND WIN.
IT APPEARS THAT HISTORY IS TRYING TO REPEAT ITSELF BEFORE OUR VERY EYES. 
The ONLY WAY for America and other nations to be saved is for the majority of our people to return to the Lord; repent of our sins; start keeping God’s Commandments; and RETURN TO THE BIBLICAL ROOTS THAT AMERICA WAS FOUNDED ON.
TURNING BACK TO GOD AND OBEYING HIM IS OUR ONLY SALVATION
2 Chron 7:14 “If MY PEOPLE , which are CALLED BY MY NAME (Christians), shall HUMBLE THEMSELVES, and PRAY, and SEEK MY FACE, and TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS ; then will I hear from heaven, and will FORGIVE THEIR SIN, and WILL HEAL THEIR LAND.”
GOD KNOWS HOW TO DELIVER HIS OWN
Personally, we can’t control what everyone else in the nation does, but we can get the curse broken off of us by coming to Christ and obeying God’s Commandments.
Gal 3:13 “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us”
When judgment comes, God makes a way of deliverance for those who obey and trust Him: i.e., Noah from the flood; Lot and his family from Sodom and Gomorrah; Paul, Silas and Peter from prison.
1 Cor 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also MAKE A WAY OFESCAPE, that ye may be able to bear it.”
Ps 37:25 “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”
Ps 91:7-8 “A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold the reward of the wicked.”

BACK
